WDT coordinated with officers from Khan Na Yao Police Station and the Department of Livestock Department (DLD) to inspect the house in Samut Prakan on Friday after receiving concerns from locals, that animals were being neglected at the property. The residents said the animals were being kept in the house by people who ask for public donations to take care of these poor animals! WDT officials contacted Khannayao police and the Livestock Department.
On Friday Police said when they entered the property, the owner of the house, a Thai woman around 40 years old, was inside and found collecting the carcasses of some dead cats. She held her hands up and begged not to be prosecuted. Police asked for her cooperation but she ran outside, got into her car, slit open her wrists, drove away, crashed into a wall, and knocked herself unconscious. Police called an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital. She had been collecting many donations via Facebook for all the animals she had “saved.” but then let them die from neglect!

Later that afternoon officials from WDT and ENP. ‘Elephant nature park’Foundation’ accompanied again by police, went to the house for an examination
The team said the stench when they entered the property was rancid and the house was brimming with dead cat carcasses & faeces! They found about 80 cats confined in cages and the carcasses of 63 dead cats, the surviving animals had been eating the cat carcasses out of starvation, Some of the animals must have been dead for over a year!
Every room in the house was covered in animal carcasses, insects, and piles of garbage!
The WDT team said that the most shocking discovery was finding many more cat carcasses stuffed into the freezer in black bin bags.
Watchdog Thailand has already filed a case against the woman at Khan Na Yao Police Station for animal cruelty causing death. WDT said she exploited the animals by starting a Facebook page to collect donations for them… as if she was saving them! Most of the cat victims have come from a group claiming to be shelters that bring in Maria Rai cats!
All 80 animals will be taken by Lek Chailert to be cared for at the “Elephant Nature Park” (ENP) or “Elephant and Environment Conservation Foundation”.
There is a process of greed! Some people rent many houses to take cats from friends or gangs that use stray cats and dogs to set up pages to make money. Some people earn well, earn millions a month, but don't use the money to help animals, but instead use the money to buy facilities such as expensive luxury cars & big house for themselves, even though they don't work or do any business! Many places have learnt social media expertise and can post sad photos, persuading animal lovers to donate cars, land and money. But when they get these assets instead of being used for animals, they are used for personal gain.
Thailand Animal Rights alliance(Tara) has been tracking these people's behaviour for a long time finding that some people rented several houses and most cats housed there are kept in small cages. One to make money but when the cat or dog lost attention ,they both had similar fates, ending up stuffed in another house full of sick animals with no cure and conditions from hell!
These movements have been promoted all over the country. Some areas located under the expressways where dogs and cats are confined in substandard conditions of animal welfare, allowing feral shelters and allowing these images of abuse to circulate time and again. It is an undeniable condemnation of Thailand's Animal Welfare Administration.
Lek Chailert had this new area built and named it “Cats Kingdom” at ENP
These rescued cats are now happy, safe and well cared for at “Elephant Nature Park”.

Saengduean Lek Chailert quoted to rescue animals can be a stressful undertaking!
It has been almost 12 hours since we tried to help the cats and dogs out of three houses. All animals were locked inside dark rooms. We received a complaint from animal lovers about cats being shut in small cages in one house. We didn't expect it to be so bad. After our team & WDT went down to search and take evidence pictures, we knew that many of the animals in those three buildings needed urgent help.
We asked for help from the Department of Livestock in Bangkok , the officials responsible for animal welfare. The local police helped us to confiscate the animals, with the cooperation of local people there who loved animals. They said that they had complained to authorities many times already.
The cats were all confined to cages in dark rooms, with no ventilation. There were about 40 cats in the first house, sluggish, lacking for food and water.
We are still working with WDT to get all of the animals out
All rescued kittens and puppies after their thorough vetting will be moved to their safe homes at Elephant Conservation Foundation, [ENP] Chiang Mai.
WARNING! Please be aware that if you visit WDT Foundation Thai Social Media Sites be prepared to see upsetting footage!
Asian Countries DO NOT have strong animal protection laws!
Thailand introduced their first law in 2014 but existing but penalties are too lenient!
