NOV 2018 - Police have filed charges against a 53-year-old Thai man after animal welfare organisation Watchdog Thailand provided videos & photos of himself having sex with a dog and sharing them with a members-only “club” online!
Senior Sgt. Major Mongkhol Khamwang, head investigator of the case, told Coconuts in a phone interview yesterday evening that authorities are currently gathering evidence and preparing an investigation file in order to move forward with the prosecution. As of press time, the alleged perpetrator, Dumrongpol Sarnmeung, has been released home after turning himself in at Sarapee Police Station in Chiang Mai province last week. Meanwhile, the alleged Bobo club leader alias “Bom Lobmoom” denies all accusations against him, and says that a dog that appears in one of the offensive videos is now dead (poisoned by a person unknown). Another appears to be a neighbour’s dog. As a result, police have been unable so far to take away any dogs that are believed to have been abused.
The case first came to authorities’ attention when Watchdog Thailand and the Chiang Mai Department of Livestock filed a police report against the bestiality club, known in local media as the “Bobo Group,” on the 30th Oct. (Bobo is a common dog’s name in Thailand)
WDT alleges that, as leader of the group, Dumrongpol would invite members to join the LINE and Facebook group for a fee of THB200 (about US$6). In these groups he would share photos of videos of people having sex with dogs, keep members updated on canines available for abuse and reveal the location of the house where members could come and have their way with the animals themselves. Once a month, members had the option to pay extra to meet dogs for “swinging sex”. A choice was offered of 10 dogs for sexual abuse.
Dumrongpol collected and groomed these street dogs when they were young under the guise of “saving” them according to The Nation. WDT which regularly conducts undercover investigations of animal abuse, stated that it took over more than a year to track down the exact location of the house where the bestiality abuse was taking place with the dogs in the San Kamphaeng district of Chiang Mai province. Once WDT had that information, they were ready to enlist the aid of police.
The perpetrator told us that he’s been doing this for 10 years now, which is about when our photo evidence dates back to He’s confessed to posting the photos and videos in the groups but he denies having sex with the dogs despite video evidence, however we have enough evidence against him to press charges said Sgt. Major Mongkhol. He is facing two charges: violation of the 2014 Thai Cruelty Prevention and Welfare of Animals Act — punishable by two years of imprisonment or a fine of THB40,000 (US$1,200) and violation of article 14 of the Computer Act prohibiting the promotional of obscene objects online, which is punishable by up to five years in prison or a fine of THB100,000 (US$3,000) thus so far however, the courts have applied much lighter sentences for animal abuse. The investigator guarantees that the perpetrator will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law
“This case is especially inhumane. We want to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said!

WDT spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Monday: “We’re happy about the outcome, and even happier that we got great cooperation from the commander of the Chiang Mai police.
“The investigation will lead to the arrest of members of the group, whom we have already identified with their names and profiles. We cannot reveal the names for now, because news about the head of the group [having been identified] has already [tipped off] the rest of them.
The Bobo police action is the fourth high-profile case involving cruelty to animals in Thailand in as many weeks
Soi Dog founder John Dalley said he was glad to see the alleged Bobo Club organiser had been identified.
“Sadly,” he added, “bestiality is not limited to Thailand. It is an insidious crime often leading to the death of the animal used to entertain extremely disturbed people.
“This pervert has been operating for a long time and has finally been caught. We hope the courts will show no leniency.”
Soi Dog’s Bangkok animal-welfare director, Dr Tuntikorn Rumpatana, said that bestiality could lead to serious physical damage and health problems for the abused dogs, even leading to death.
A female DJ has also been arrested after being accused of disembowelling a kitten while it was still alive, allegedly for the enjoyment of members of a “dark” website, who paid for the so-called entertainment.
And two men were arrested in separate incidents, both after flying into a rage and violently beating to death neighbours’ dogs that had offended them. WDT was involved in all three arrests!
